Building a Website for Composers & Musicians
Every business and industry can benefit from a well-designed website. The music industry is one of them. These professionals, whether they’re music producers, composers, songwriters, etc, they’re all looking to build a website that not only meets their industry-specific needs – but also helps achieve their business goals.
Christopher Tyler Nickel is an award-winning composer who sells music albums to other artists, composers, and industry engineers for film and television. After building his website www.christophernickel.com, our digital marketing team at Ballistic Arts has executed a successful digital marketing campaign to help Christopher achieve his goal of generating new leads for the rental and purchase of his sheet music and recordings.
Recently, Christopher has worked on an original musical called “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, which is based on the “Captain Nemo” novel by Jules Verne. This musical is one of his most important pieces of work to date and therefore, needed a site to showcase.
Our web development team built a one-page website as a space for Christopher to tell his story about this musical. The idea was to create something that would allow the users to feel part of the story that Christopher was telling.
The header menus make it effortless for the users to navigate through certain aspects of the musical. Additionally, a call-to-action button with a distinctive color that remains visible as users scroll through the website can provoke an immediate response from them to instantly connect with the music agency and take an action – whether to send an email or make a phone call.
The problem: We needed a website to feature an important amount of content from the client while keeping a layout that would make the users feel connected with the story.
The solution: By relying on graphics that were received from the client, we created a one-page scrolling website that features everything about the musical while being able to guide the users through the most important aspects of it.
At first, our team experimented with some Figma layouts to see what worked better for the content and Christopher’s expectations. Once the initial designs were completed, we decided to play around with animations and different scrolling effects so it would feel ocean-esque.
This testing process got us to where the site is today, which is a product that makes both Christopher and the team proud. Addressing storytelling on the website while maintaining content from Christopher as the main focus point has become one of the biggest takeaways from this project.
