Unifying HME’s Digital Presence Through a Complete Website Overhaul

HME is a British Columbia–based provider of mobility, accessibility, and pediatric equipment, with eleven locations spanning the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Interior. For years, they have been a trusted resource for individuals, families, and healthcare facilities across the province, offering everything from wheelchairs and stairlifts to complex rehab solutions and ceiling lift systems.

The Problem

As HME expanded their services across British Columbia, managing their digital presence had become a growing challenge. What was once a practical solution had turned into a network of disconnected sites, each pulling in a different direction.

Each service area had its own website, with its own look and feel, making it nearly impossible to present a consistent brand to the people they were trying to reach. Their primary website had fallen behind. It was outdated, hard to navigate, and no longer reflected the company HME had become. And with hundreds of products spanning rental, purchase, and custom quote categories, the complexity of what they were managing only made the problem harder to ignore.

The fragmentation was also creating problems that weren’t immediately visible. Running multiple sites covering overlapping services meant HME was quietly competing against itself in search rankings, undermining its own SEO efforts. What should have been a strong, unified digital presence had become a liability.

The Solution

Ballistic Arts offered Website Design & Development

Ballistic Arts offered Website Design & Development

Given the scope of what needed to happen, the Ballistic Arts web team’s first step was getting everyone on the same page. Before any design or development work began, we worked closely with the HME team to define what a successful outcome would actually look like and map out the stages it would take to get there.

From there, we identified which of HME’s existing sites would be folded into the main website. The goal was clear: reduce the maintenance burden, eliminate the fragmentation, and build a single, stronger digital presence that could support everything HME offered under one roof.

Merging multiple websites into one carries real risk. Years of built-up search rankings can disappear overnight if the transition isn’t handled carefully. Before a single site was folded in, we put the right safeguards in place. We audited existing content, preserved URL structures, set up redirects, and established monitoring systems to track performance through the transition.

While the development team worked on merging the sites, the design team was running in parallel. Working directly with HME, we took the opportunity to refresh the look and feel of the main website, modernizing the visual experience to match the company’s current brand and the quality of what they offer.

The result was a robust, unified website that HME can confidently point every customer to, knowing it reflects the full scope of what they do.

Key Success Factors

A Modern Site Built to Drive Sales & Leads

A well-designed website does more than look good. It guides users toward the right products and services. By refreshing the visual experience and improving site structure and navigation, we created a modern, intuitive destination that

Digital Products All in One Web Flow

Bringing hundreds of products spanning rental, purchase, and custom quote categories into a single, organized website flow gave HME one place to send every customer, with everything they need in reach.

SEO Protection Through a Complex Migration

Protecting search rankings through a multi-site migration comes down to the details. By preserving URL structures, setting up proper redirects, and optimizing pages with meta descriptions, alt tags, and schema markup, to both survive and come out stronger from the transition.

The Results

The final deliverable was a single, unified website built to handle everything HME needed in one place. Hundreds of products across rental, purchase, and custom quote categories, multiple service areas, and a refreshed visual experience all came together under one roof.

Satisfied with the result, HME now maintains a single digital presence instead of many, reducing the cost and effort of keeping their tools up to date. With everything consolidated, the site serves every type of customer and business model they support, while working as both a sales driver and a lead generation tool.
